Have a Heart for Art!

As a vehicle of creative expression, art can be therapeutic. Whether you are naturally inclined to the arts, and whichever art form you choose to explore, you are bound to experience its proven benefits.
Plano has a thriving art community, supported by organizations such as the Art Centre of Plano, Plano Art Association and Plano Art Fest. Custer Park is home to a few establishments that promote art and creativity. It doesn’t matter what age you are, what you do for a living, or even if you feel you have a “knack” for it. Art is for everyone – and we invite you to try it!
The easiest way to get started on your art exploration is by taking a trip to the local museum. If that’s really not your cup of tea, why don’t you try creating art yourself? You can opt to go with visual arts, under which you have such familiar art forms as drawing, painting and crafts. Everything you’ll need to start your journey can be found at Asel Art Supply, which has a long history in Texas, having been established in 1951. They have several locations, one of which is right here in Custer Park, next to Kroger.
Performance arts, such as theater or dance, are also worthy starting points. Not only do they build confidence and physical strength, they also leave much room for free expression, especially where movement is concerned. Custer Park houses The Gotta Dance Studio (located along Custer Road facing the parking lot), which offers dance classes for children, teens and adults! We highly suggest you make it a family affair so that you can enjoy art with people you love.
Art can sometimes be intimidating, but this shouldn’t stop you from putting yourself out there and seeing which art form may be right up your alley. Visit Asel Art Supply and Gotta Dance Studio at Custer Park to find your initial inspiration – and let your heart for art pound!
