Apple Orthodontix and Dental came to be more than thirty years ago, when Dr. Packard relocated to Texas and provide more affordable braces to patients in need. He brought with him the 16 years of experience he had gained in Boise, Idaho, where he first saw how children had to endure orthodontic issues simply because their families could not afford braces. When his clinics in Texas were established, Dr. Packard established a down payment scheme to encourage patients to pursue the appropriate orthodontic solutions.

From there, Apple Orthodontix and Dental grew into what it is today—a successful family-owned business that has 15 dental offices (including their Custer clinic), each offering full-service dental care and oral surgery on top of orthodontics. His sons, Chad M. Packard (who now serves as the CEO) and Meredith H. Packard, DDS, were also instrumental in propelling the company’s rapid growth.
